Grades, origins and what actually drives the price
Indonesian clove — Zanzibar-type from Sulawesi and Maluku — is our main line: plump, dark brown buds with strong eugenol content. Madagascan and Comoros clove runs slightly leaner but carries a cleaner, sweeter aroma that suits tea blenders and pharmaceutical buyers.
Headless clove is cheaper for a reason. It grinds perfectly well but looks poor in a whole-spice retail pack. We stock both, priced separately, and never quietly blend one into the other.
