UN Sustainable Development Goals
Four of the UN Sustainable Development Goals relate directly to our work. For each one: what we do today, and what we aim to do.
SDG 1
Every piece in our handmade range is made by hand by Bangladeshi artisans, so each order is paid work for the people who make it.
We aim to give artisans steady, repeat work by building long-term export orders.
SDG 5
Crafts such as crochet, coiling and weaving can be done at home, which makes them paid work that fits around other responsibilities.
We aim to offer this work to women artisans on paid, fair terms, and to report how many of our artisans are women once we can verify it.
SDG 8
Export orders connect Bangladeshi producers and craftspeople with buyers overseas. Buyers deal directly with the proprietor and receive a written quotation before they commit.
We aim to keep trade direct and transparent, with agreed specifications and clear terms on every order.
SDG 13
Our handmade range is made from plant fibres (jute, bamboo, cotton and natural grass) that can take the place of plastic in baskets, storage and homeware.
We aim to measure the footprint of our packaging and shipping, and to publish figures only when we can show where they come from.
